Oil and wax on paper series, 2021, 5 x 7 each

My work is process driven and mostly created with no preconceived idea. I work from intuition and through exploration of various materials including oil and cold wax, collage, mixed media, charcoal and water based paint. I use palatte knives, oil sticks, brushes, scrapers and various mark making tools. With oil and wax, I make marks and often add, rework and subtract layers of paint over days, weeks or months and think about the result later. I also create more immediate and less time intensive work based on mark making. 

My work is created in an experimental way often working on multiple pieces at a time. I move back and forth between more geometric forms and gestural lines to explore composition.  My creative process is based on the relationships between shapes, color, line, layers and discovery. 

My goal is to explore different possibilities, perspectives, ways of seeing and self- expression through the language of visual art.  I hope the work encourages thinking and looking.
